Very average food though their sign says voted best local restaurant several times. We each had a wrap that was overpriced for what was in it, and the side of slaw that came with it was served in a styrofoam container with a lid. Really weird. Add mediocre food to adequate but not particularly friendly service and I'll suggest that you can do better elsewhere.

Home style cooking. Was pretty good reasonably price. House salad could have used a bit more veggies but the homemade dressing was good and the homemade bread was great Server was very nice.

Do I have to give it an entire star? Apparently. This place consistently gets the Daily News Readers' Choice award for Best Restaurant, but I have NO idea how. I guess with local gem The Blind Duck now gone and with former local gems Fontana's and Romagnoli's having gone so downhill, people in Iron Mountain have forgotten entirely what good food is. Having recently moved back to the area and at a bit of a loss for a decent place to get lunch, my mom and I went here. I'm not going to comment on the service because for the most part, as long as I get my drink and food and can flag my server down fairly easily for a refill or whatever, I don't give a crap how enthusiastic he or she is. I also am going to refrain from commenting on the decor, because it's another thing I just don't care about. I go to a restaurant for (hoping delicious) food, not to wax poetic about cheap art reproductions. Prices are fairly low and portions are ridiculously huge, and I guess that's all anyone in the area cares about. My mom ordered a burrito or something and I ordered a chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes. Both meals were as bland as can be. The paper placemat would have been more flavorful. To boot, the coffee was also terrible (and I'm not fussy about my coffee). The food came lightning-fast, so I think all they do here is microwave stuff. Basically... Godawful. The good news is that if you're reading this on your phone while sitting in the parking lot of the joint, Taco Bell is right across the road!

On snowmobiling trip to iron mountain. Should have searched harder for breakfast. Horrible coffee. Marginal pancakes and bacon. Service was lightning fast. Thought local family diner would be much better. Disappointed.

Very good home style meal. Very friendly servers. Very reasonable $. Will definitely come back. Clean restaurant and even the restrooms.

This place was pleasantly surprising. I got a chicken wrap that comes with slaw, which sounds boring, but it was more than just your average wrap. The wrap might have been grilled (not sure, I'd never seen anything like it), it was darn good. Not only did I get slaw with my wrap they surprised me again with a little side of potato salad...my lucky day. My buddy ordered a burger and it came out on a pretzel bun, kind of like you see at Bennigan's. If I'd have known that I may have got the burger. Included with the burger were crinkle fries, which I'm not a big fan of, but they looked good. Lunch was really good. I'd hit it up again.

AVOID ... Travelling on past glories. I have eaten here two dozen times over the past 5 years. The last two times have had problems with the food -- cold food that was supposed to be hot and a "chicken wrap" that lacked chicken!! Will not be back.

Good Friday fish fry--all you can eat--with the usual cod, perch, shrimp, and walleye-- and clams!

The Holiday Kitchen in Iron Mountain is a reliable breakfast destination. I make a point of stopping here most every time I'm in the U.P. The waitservice is usually attentive and pleasant, and the food is served fast and hot. I've never been through in the afternoon or evening, so I've never tried the lunch or dinner here. But the breakfasts are pretty good. I usually get the skillets with the cubed hash browns (especially delicious) and ham, egg, peppers and onions, all topped with a couple of slices of American cheese. It isn't gourmet by any means, it's standard breakfast food at a diner. If I'm not too hungry I'll go with two eggs over easy, always done up properly, with the hash browns and toast. I love the marble rye toast here. I'm not so big on the coffee - it comes off as weak and pretty flavorless. It's the only major drawback to the place. The clientele in the mornings is almost entirely made up of the elderly coffee klatch crowd, but there's nothing wrong with that. Last time I entertained myself with eavesdropping on two old friends arguing over the better fishing spots, then arguing over the "check" - not much since the two only had coffee. I would rate the place 3 to 3.5 stars because it is always good but not really great. I'm sure there's plenty of other places similar in the area, but this was the first place I ever stopped and for that reason I'll keep stopping.
